Kaston Williams is the kid turned adult overnight, at a young age. From being a rebel from Virginia, he is the presumptive individual that believes that all people want to self-better themselves. From the magnificent achievements of being a nurse's aide, a teacher, and a financial advisor, Kaston's greatest gift is to speak and develop influence on his peers and the younger generation. From the self-inflicted hardships to the culturally based predicaments he has faced, his goal is to prove that adversity is no match, for a disciplined dreamer.

JDBOOKS has the privilege of an interview with author KASTON WILLIAMS

Where do you live and is that the setting for your book?

I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

And the book setting starts in Virginia, and ends in Oklahoma 

How did you come up with the premise of Man Vs. Himself? Was it something that you experienced?

With me being a Gemini, I believe in the duality of scenarios that individuals face as our biggest critic or biggest enemy can be from within. A lot of times we block our own blessing in many of situations.

-everything that is written in the book, I have experienced, in which I explain the rights and wrongs of what I could have done to help my road not for the present, but for the future. Overcoming adversity builds stronger character traits.

How did you come up with an amazing title?

in many of my encounters with decision making, I sometimes tend to make things harder on myself than what it needs to be. No matter my environment, my financial status, or who I surround myself with, I understand I am the beholder of my path to whatever I want to be in life. I can only control what I control, and I can be at peace with that.

Your book is a Inspirational book. What drew you to the genre?

being the introvert person that I once was, a lot of my peers and younger kids still looked to me, followed certain decision making and moves that I have made. Being a father and once a teacher, I knew that you don’t ask to be a role model or a leader, some people just gravitate towards you without even knowing that you carry that title. So now I feel like I am the voice of the people that just haven’t found their voice yet in mastering their talent.

In one of my blog pieces, I discuss how to approach writing a book, but it is mainly targeted towards those who want to write inspirational book. What advice would you give someone on how to approach writing a inspirational book?

my advice would be to let it ALL out. Readers want to feel like they know you, they can trust you. If you open up and leave it all on the pages, the audience will not only respect you, but they will begin to admire you.

Have any of the part of story in Man Vs. Himself? Been influenced by TV or movie figures? If so, which one(s)?

yes, a lot of my creativity of the book came from movies like “Us” and even stand up comedians like Dave Chappelle. The method of having a lesson within a lesson, is how I build my own worth of creativity and a new art to writing.

If you could give your younger self some advice about the writing process, what would it be?

be patient, and soak in life. Everyday there is a lesson to be learned from something or someone.

What time do you usually start writing and what do you find the hardest part of the writing process?

I don’t have a certain time to write. When ideas come to mind, I write them down. The more and more I write, the more I start to piece together my theory and concepts.

With that tradition and understanding within myself to be able to write freely, it allows be to think freely. The hardest part of writing to me is persuading my audience to see the creativity into everything I do. Page by page, I guarantee there is something creative and i push myself to keep that energy going.

How has writing changed you?

writing for me has been an audition to finding my own voice and stance in the world, the way to express myself while being thoughtful into my audience thoughts to start the dialogue to open subjects that I may have in common with others.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

something I like to do while not writing is definitely watching sports. Sports takes me to another world like writing does, and I feel like you can relate to sports to anything in life as far as morals and a competitive nature of life.
